Accademia del Piacere again in Madrid

Academy of Pleasure

Although less remembered than other musical events, in 2014 also commemorates the four hundredth anniversary of the birth of Juan Hidalgo, one of the essential names of the Hispanic Baroque. Chapel Royal Harpist, collaborator of Calderón in the first Spanish zarzuelas and operas and author of an important corpus of chamber songs (the human tones), Hidalgo well represents a time of crucial cultural and political transformations that Fahmi Alqhai and its recognized Academy of Pleasure will recreate in a reconstruction that will be as faithful to the time as it is creative in its modernity.

The courage of their innovative projects, the technical ability of its musicians and the strong artistic personality of its director have made Accademia del Piacere the avant-garde group of early Spanish music and one of the leaders in Europe.
From its beginnings in 2002, dedicated to the German repertoire of the 18th, Accademia del Piacere has deepened and revealed new nuances in fundamental repertoires of historical music, como and the Italian seventeenth century, to whom he has dedicated his albums Le Lacrime di Eros (Premio Prelude Classical Music 2009) y Loves of Mars, centrado in el Combattimento by Tancredi and Clorinda de Monteverdi (Exceptional Scherzo Disc 2011 y CD Tip en Toccata Magazine, Germany), or the French chamber music of the court of the Sun King, recorded in Les violes du Ciel et de l’Enfer(Nominated for European Critics Award International Classical Music Awards 2011). In all of them, critics have highlighted Accademia's fascinating and direct power of communication towards the public., thanks to his conception of historical music as something alive, full of emotions that its musicians internalize as their own and transmit to the viewer.

In 2011 Accademia del Piacere convulsed the world of historical music with “The comings and goings”, an incursion into the world of flamenco and its connections with baroque music made in collaboration with the singer Arcángel, which earned him the Giraldillo for Best Music at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla 2012 and a great record success at European level as the fourth CD of the label founded by Fahmi and Rami, Alqhai&Alqhai.

Equally brave is his next record project, that revives the exciting world of improvisation in the Spain of the 1600: Rediscovering Spain (2013), where again Alqhai and Accademia risk, and offer new glosses to today's public.

Recognition at a Spanish and European level has earned Accademia its presence on the most prestigious stages of European and world classical music.: among many others, has recently visited the Berlin Konzerthaus, Cologne Philharmonie, the National Auditorium of Madrid and the International Cervantino Festival of Mexico, and in 2013 worked at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Bruges Early Music Festival, as well as at many other festivals in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain… Accademia del Piacere concerts are regularly broadcast live by the European Broadcasting Union from its associated stations, as RNE, NDR from Germany, Radio of Italian Switzerland or Radio Checa, and have appeared on multiple television broadcasts.
