Between 22 and the 31 October, the Spanish tenor Celso Albelo will return to the stage of Euskalduna Bilbao to inaugurate the operatic season of the Bilbao Association of Friends of the Opera. He will incarnating first Gennaro, the protagonist of the opera Gaetano Donizetti Lucrezia Borgia. Albelo land in Bilbao after his triumphant return to the Bolshoi in Moscow (Don Pasquale, Donizetti also), and he will do it in a production directed musically by the master José Miguel Pérez-Sierra and signing stage director Franceso Bellotto. A consummate specialist in romantic bel canto, Celso Albelo has sung a large part of his repertoire before the abbey audience: “I will never forget, in any case”, says the tenor, “the night, by popular demand, we repeat the aria ‘A furtive tear’, L'elisir d'amore. I think that from that moment on I was able to establish a very special communication with the Bilbao public, to which I feel like home. That's why I chose to debut the role of Gennaro there, perhaps the last of the great tenor characters from the Donizettian repertoire that I had yet to perform”.
After this Lucrezia Borgia, Celso Albelo continues with his unstoppable international career: in November he will participate in Rigoletto at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna (Italy), scenario in which, well into December he will play the romantic character par excellence, the protagonist of Werther from Massenet.
