On Tuesday 16 November at 19:30h, in the symphony hall of the National Music Auditorium, go back to the cycle Baroque Universe of the CNDM the great Jordi Savall, this time with a concert based on the most famous Cantigas de santa María of King Alfonso X the Wise. The Catalan musician will be accompanied by his chamber group Hesperion XXI and his choir The Royal Chapel of Catalonia.

It is a very special concert since Jordi Savall -violagambista, orchestra director, musicologist and one of the most prestigious architects of historical music worldwide-, he is the signer of one of the reference recordings dedicated to the cantigas de Santa María. On the other hand, It is the first of the concerts in Madrid of the great transverse cycle #AlfonsoX.800 that the National Center for Musical Dissemination dedicates throughout the season 21/22 the Castilian monarch in many of the cycles that articulate the extensive program of the institution throughout the Spanish geography.

The collection of the Cantigas de Santa María is the most significant and most personal work of Alfonso X el Sabio and an essential poetic “corpus” of medieval European poetry.. Jordi Savall, an essential musician
Born in Igualada (Barcelona) in 1944, Jordi Savall is one of the most versatile musical personalities of his generation. For more than fifty years, he has been making musical wonders known to the world, sometimes abandoned in oblivion.. Dedicated to the research of these ancient music, reads and interprets them with his viola da gamba, or as director. His activities as a concert, educator, researcher and creator of new projects, musical and cultural, place it among the main architects of the phenomenon of revaluation of historical music. Their concert programs have made music an instrument of mediation for peace and understanding between peoples and cultures and sometimes faced.
