On this day, the world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli launch a new duet, ‘Pianissimo’, with the mezzo-soprano internacionalmente aclamada Cecilia Bartoli, before the release of his new album the 13 of November. Written by the composer Mauro Malavasi, that takes almost 30 years working with Andrea, the song is composed in a minimal and elegant style inspired by the avant-garde French composer Erik Satie.
Andrea explains: «’ Pianissimo ’is an illustrated dialogue between a couple who feel the gaze of God and the love movement through their romantic relationship. As often found in Malavasi's compositions, the piano stands in the center of the stage to accompany the intertwined melodies of the singers ».
Cecilia Bartoli adds: «It was wonderful to sing the duet‘ Pianissimo ’with Andrea. It's such a pretty melody… I really enjoyed it!»
The video, released to accompany the new duet, shows Andrea and Cecilia on the grounds and in the oval room of the elegant Tenuta Corbinaia in Tuscany. Directed by Riccardo Guarnieri and Luca Scota, The video includes stunning aerial shots of the Italian countryside in late summer that perfectly complement the couple's emotional duet.
The album that is about to come out, Believe, published by Sugar/Decca Records and co-produced by Steven Mercurio and Haydn Bendall, explore spiritual issues such as faith, hope and charity and celebrate the power of music to heal the soul. It's a continuation of Andrea's performance ‘Music for Hope’, that broke all the records in Holy Week from the historic Duomo cathedral in Milan and which obtained the largest simultaneous audience in a live streaming of classical music in history, more than 28 millions of views around the world in their first 24 hours.
In addition to the collaboration with Cecilia Bartoli, there is also a duet with Alison Krauss and a new composition of Ennio Morricone, long-time collaborator of Bocelli, titulada 'Whispered hymn' (‘Whispered hymn’). There are also classics known as ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.. Andrea has also composed his own versions of ‘Ave María’ and ‘Our Father’ especially for this album..
One of the hidden gems in Believe es' Brother sun sister moon (Sweet is to feel)’, a song included in the Franco Zeffirelli film Brother sun, sister moon, with music composed by Riz Ortolani. Another delight is ‘Angele Dei’, a recently discovered piece by Puccini, arranged by Michael Kaye, that Andrea premiered in 2019. It was originally written without lyrics, so Andrea asked for the words of a sentence to be added.
Andrea continues: «The list of topics of Believe It is the result of a spiritual journey in which I have been immersed in recent years and that has led me to constant growth. This new album is the embodiment of a need to lay a new path, everything modest, incomplete and subjective that may be, that combines themes that reach the soul, thus providing the listener with an incentive to engage with their own spiritual side and listen to what they have to say ".
With such a powerful message, Andrea hopes that listeners will derive comfort from this new recording and reaffirm themselves in the core values of the album of faith., charity and hope.
