Essential Saint-Saens

Essential Saint-Saens celebrates the centenary of the death of French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. The recording was made in the Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium on 30 from October 2020.

It reviews some of the most significant pieces by the French composer, one of the most interesting and controversial personalities of his time. Virtuoso pianist and prolific composer, He was also a student of astronomy., mathematics and philosophy. Writer, cartoonist and tireless traveler, is recognized as an essential link in the renewal that resulted in the music of Debussy or Ravel.

JOSEP VICENT

Spanish musician with an exciting and unique career, who has led some of the most prestigious symphonic ensembles in Spain and the world: London Symphony Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmonic, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Paris Chamber Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic, Residence Orchestra The Hague, holland radio, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Kyiv Orchestra, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Orchestra of the Royal Theater, Orchestra of the Royal Theater of La Monnaie, New World Symphony Miami, Durban and Auvergne Orchestras, National Symphonies of Belgium, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil… and almost all the Spanish symphonic ensembles, being a regular guest teacher with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Catalonia, Orquesta de Valencia, National Orchestra of Spain…

Since 2015/16 Josep Vicent is Artistic and Musical Director of ADDA and Full Director of ADDA Symphony. He was also Principal Conductor of the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra and the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra. (The World Orchestra) since 2005 a 2015, with whom he made fifteen tours on four continents.

Pioneer in exploring new formats and audiences for classical music, directs operatic productions at the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Liceu Theater of Barcelona, the Leipzig Opera or the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, among others. He has been working as Musical Director with the acclaimed operatic/theatrical group “La Fura del Baus” since 2014.

With extensive experience in contemporary music, premiered hundreds of works of creation, was Artistic Director of the Xenakis Festival, of the Mediterranean Nights Festival and the internationally acclaimed Amsterdam Percussion Group. He was assistant to maestro Alberto Zedda and awarded the International Musical Youth Interpretation Award., the “City of Valencia” Arts Award 2013 and the “Oscar Esplá” City of Alicante Award. He is an international Ambassador designated by D. Federico Mayor Zaragoza for the Culture of Peace Foundation.

In season 2021/22 debuts in front of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Mariinsky Theater, the Rouen Opera and the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. He will combine his position as Principal Conductor of ADDA Simfònica with concerts as guest conductor at the head of the Sinfonietta Krakow, the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra, the Zuidnederlands Philharmonic and the Lille Orchester National. It will also be together with OSPA for the Princess of Asturias Awards. What's more, we will be able to see him directing different ADDA Simfònica programs in Alicante with the collaboration of soloists such as Katia and Marielle Labèque (pianist), Joaquin Riquelme (viola) Leticia Moreno (fiddle), Cristina Faus and Ramon Vargas (singers), Júlia Gállego (flute) and Conrad Moya (marimba).

DAMIAN MARTINEZ MARCO

Recognized by international critics for his expressive sensitivity and his exquisite sound, Damian Martínez Marco has been awarded in international competitions in France, Spain and Portugal. As a soloist he has performed with the Masters Krzysztof Penderecki, Lawrence Foster, Lorenzo Viotti, Theodor Guschlbauer, Anne Manson, David Harutyunyan, Peter Rundel, Pedro Halffter, Antoni Ros Marbà, Enrique García Asensio, Glory Elizabeth Ramos, Frank Beerman, Thomas Garrido, John Joseph Olives, Josep Vicent, Vasily Petrenko, Marzio Conti, Nuno Coelho. He has toured France, Germany, Italy, England, USA, Finland, Sweden, Morocco, Lithuania, Estonia, Japan, Colombia, Ecuador, Israel, Canada and China.

He is an exclusive artist for Warner Classics and a cellist for Dúo Cassadó, formation with which he has played in the most important venues and festivals in the world. His album “Rapsodia del Sur” received the support of the BBVA Foundation and was awarded the “Melómano de Oro”. He has also published “Rojo” and “Hypnotik” for Warner Classics.. As a soloist he has published with the OBC “Spirit of Casals”, album tribute to Pau Casals. He has made recordings for ASV record companies, keys, Naxos, TVE and TV3 and the French Cello Association.

He is a full professor of cello at “Musikene” Higher Center of Music of the Basque Country, at ESMUC Higher School of Music of Catalonia and at the Alfonso X “El Sabio” University in Madrid. He is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music in London., Indiana University School of Music de EEUU y Musikhochschule Stuttgart. He studied with Janos Starker, Natalia Gutman, Maria de Macedo and Aldo Parisot, supported by Musical Youth of Madrid, Pau Casals Foundation, Ritz Foundation, Indiana University, Banff Center of Arts Canada and Yale University.
