Songs of Passion, el nuevo trabajo discográfico de Lea Desandre, Thomas Dunford y el Ensemble Jupiter

Con Songs of Passion, una colección de música vocal e instrumental de John Dowland y Henry Purcell —compositores ingleses nacidos con casi un siglo de diferencia—, la mezzosoprano Lea Desandre, el laudista Thomas Dunford y el Ensemble Jupiter han creado una continuación de sus álbumes anteriores, Eternal Heaven, Idylle y Amazone. En Songs of Passion participan como artistas invitados otros cuatro cantantes de la nueva generación: el barítono Huw Montague Rendall, la contralto Jess Dandy, el tenor Laurence Kilsby y el bajo Alex Rosen. Dowland es conocido por sus íntimas evocaciones de la melancolía amorosa en sus composiciones para voz y laúd, mientras que la música de Purcell, el mayor compositor británico de la época barroca, abarca una rica diversidad de estados de ánimo y emociones. En Songs of Passion destacan dos obras teatrales de Purcell: The Fairy Queen y Dido and Aeneas. El famoso lamento de Dido, «When I am laid in earth», constituye el punto álgido del álbum.
